Egg Freezing for future fertility opportunities

Thrive fertility – what is egg freezing?

Women have a fixed number of eggs that decline through their reproductive lives. While women are most fertile in their 20s and early 30s, egg reserves begin to decline from their mid-30s. Egg freezing offers the opportunity for conception with a biological child at a time in life when natural conception may be more difficult – or even impossible. By freezing eggs in their reproductive prime, the potential can be stored for future use.

Who is egg freezing for?

We recommend egg freezing for those who:

We work with women who want to study and build their careers before parenthood, find the right partner, or become more financially stable.

For example, surgical removal of ovarian endometriosis or needing to undergo chemotherapy.

Starting a family may be something you never pursue, but preserving your eggs ensures you’re giving yourself options and opportunities in the future.

Egg Freezing

Egg freezing involves collecting eggs at an age of prime fertility, and preserving them for later use. With the right techniques, eggs can be stored for years without any significant deterioration, giving you the option to use them to achieve pregnancy in the future. When the time is right, stored eggs can be fertilised, and the embryo transferred into your body to increase the likelihood of a successful pregnancy. However, stored eggs do not have to be fertilised. Egg freezing provides women with greater opportunity; it doesn’t force a decision.

Your Journey

At Thrive Fertility we suggest an initial consult with our fertility specialist to evaluate your options. It’s important to know that egg freezing doesn’t guarantee pregnancy; rather, it provides an opportunity to try to conceive at a later time. You’ll have the option to see a member of our counselling team who will help you decide if egg freezing is the right choice for you, and chat with you about options and expectations.

The journey for women who do choose egg freezing may look like this:

Consultation, counselling, and preparation

If you are considering egg freezing you should start with a consultation with one of our fertility specialists, who will ensure that you understand what options freezing your eggs will give you.
